Road markings and signage - yellow lines

Yellow lines

Yellow lines are road markings that denote a restriction of some sort, for example yellow lines at the edge of a road act as waiting restrictions, yellow marks outside schools indicate a keep clear zone, and yellow box zones indicating no stopping.

When a new yellow line is needed, we need to create a traffic regulation order- these are created after consultation and approval. Yellow lines do require maintenance once they have been painted, especially re-painting when and if they fade.

Enforcement of parking and stopping restrictions comes within the jurisdiction your local district or borough council.

Cumbria County Council provide Road markings and signage  in care as part of their Transport & Roads service.
