Spillages

Cumbria County Council is responsible for dealing with spillages on the highway that could cause an immediate hazard to road users or to the environment.  Examples of hazardous spillages are: 

  • Oil, diesel, petrol or brake fluid
  • Sand, gravel and other building materials
  • Dropped loads like steel, glass and containers
  • Hazardous materials like asbestos    

Cumbria County Council provide Road safety as part of their Transport & Roads service.
