Parking Enforcement

Parking Enforcement is carried out in the city by Civil Enforcement Officers employed by Carlisle City Council.

The Civil Enforcement Officers issue Penalty Charge Notices to illegally parked vehicles under the provisions of Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The parking restrictions are enforced in order to:

• Improve road safety
• Reduce congestion
• Improve access to public transport
• Reduce commuter parking in residential areas
