Carlisle City Council, the University of Cumbria and Carlisle
Leisure Limited have commissioned exciting plans to transform The
Sands Centre, Carlisle and strengthen its position as one of the
region’s premier leisure and entertainment venues.The £15million
development plans aim to provide lasting economic and cultural
benefits to the city.

What happens next?
Carlisle City Council, the University of Cumbria and Carlisle
Leisure Limited have drawn together the initial proposals.
Carlisle City Council’s Executive will be considering
two reports, at a Special Executive meeting on Friday 16
October, which gives information about the proposals and also
possible funding options.
If the scheme is agreed and planning consent is given, the work
could start in late 2010 and be completed by autumn 2012.
