Young People

Carlisle City Council has a team of three part-time youth workers who deliver a variety of projects to young people in Carlisle and District:

City centre drop in sessions at Carlisle library

A free youth drop-in is held at Carlisle library every Wednesday between 3.30-5.00pm.  The drop-in is held in the library throughout the winter and those awful rainy days in the summer, but throughout the summer we will be doing detached work around the City Centre, Bitts Park and the River Eden.  Organised by Carlisle City Council youth workers and Cumbria County Council, the sessions offer young people a chance to discuss any issues that are important to them, access information about other organisations and generally have someone they can chat to.

Youth Centre Group

Currently a group meet on a Monday evening 4pm at various locations to discuss the possibilities of having a City Centre based Youth Centre.  The group have been talking to Local Councillors, children and young people organisations in Carlisle and chatting with the public about their views on young people in Carlisle.  They have been to visit another Youth Centre in Bolton and have come up with some ideas for what they would like in their own Youth Centre.  If you are passionate about having facitilites for young people in Carlisle and would like to have your voice heard, please give us a call on 01228 817591 or alternatively give us an email on comsup@carlisle.gov.uk
