Buddhism & meditation in the English Lake District

Uma Kadampa Buddhist Centre offers a peaceful space in the midst of the busy city of Carlisle where you can learn about Buddhism and meditation. We are on the edge of the Lake District and close to the border of Scotland. The centre is a detached 1850's house situated within its own grounds and beautiful gardens.

As well as regular weekly meditation classes we offer day courses, open days, meditation workshops and also educational visits for schools, colleges and community groups of all ages.

Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Center, based at Conishead Priory at the southern end of the English Lake District, provides an extraordinarily peaceful and inspiring environment in which we can learn about Buddhism and meditation.

Established in 1975, it is home to a spiritual community that includes many Buddhist monks and nuns as well as lay practitioners from all different backgrounds and countries.
